The Roadracing World Action Fund has reached a grand total of $707,364.75 in contributions, thanks to many members of the motorcycle community taking the initiative and making the effort to support the worthy cause of motorcycle racing safety. Donations to the Roadracing World Action Fund continue to be made in memory of WERA racer Chad Sisler, who was killed in an on-track accident June 7 at Summit Point Raceway. New donations include: John Ballenge, $100; Rodger P. Doyle, $100; Dan Christopherson, $100; Lori Kobayashi, $100; Alan Nelson, $50; Jay Ruess, $50; Timothy Wilson, $25. To date, 43 contributors have raised $3937 for soft barriers at Summit Point in Sisler’s honor, and two new soft barrier sections have already been delivered to the track in his memory. Intrepid Café Racers honored the memory of fellow member Chris Phillips, donating a total of $300 to the Action Fund, including donations from members Eric Turner, $200; Mike Hoy, $50; and George Hovanec, $50. Eric Turner wrote: “In memory of Chris Phillips, 35, of Soddy-Daisy (Tennessee). Chris was killed in a single-bike accident on Friday, October 2, 2009. He was a long-time motorcycle rider/collector as well as being a highly skilled welder and metal fabricator. Chris was a member of the Intrepid Cafe Racers and a great friend.” Members of Intrepid Cafe Racers have contributed a grand total is $1375 to the Roadracing World Action Fund. The Roadracing World Action Fund benefited from a 50/50 raffle held at the LRRS Series awards banquet this year when winner Michael “Doc” Lemire designated a portion of his winnings – $500 – for the fund. The other portion of the 50/50 went to the Karen Hornbecker Memorial Injured Riders Fund. Kurveygirl.com donates a portion of its sales to the Roadracing World Action Fund each year, and recently sent $2755 for 2009. Kurveygirl’s all-time grand total has now reached $8507. Fishtail Riding School has begun a program to donate regularly to the Roadracing World Action Fund. Instructor Tim Hafner sent in $30, and wrote, “Fishtail Riding School has started a suspension school, and the proceeds from the printed materials will all go to the Action Fund. We’re hoping this is the first of many donations.” This year’s 5th annual Thanksgiving weekend Two-up Bike Ride Fundraiser at Auto Club Speedway November 28-29 presented by Chris Ulrich and hosted by Fastrack Riders raised $6,540 for the Roadracing World Action Fund. For the fifth year in a row, AMA Pro American Superbike racer Chris Ulrich piloted a two-seater Superbike and took passengers who donated a minimum of $50 around the track for several laps. Passenger donations totaled $3270; Fastrack Riders then matched that amount. This year’s contribution brings the grand total raised by the event over five years to $29,290.
