A year-end flurry of contributions has pushed the Roadracing World Action Fund to a grand total of $504,695.64 raised since the Racers Take Action! safety campaign began nearly six years ago. Spiegler Performance Parts has made a holiday season contribution to the Roadracing World Action Fund in the amount of $1550, giving the “gift of safety” in lieu of gift baskets. Matthias Schaub, President of Spiegler Performance Parts, wrote: “This year we decided to send our customers the following Christmas cards instead of gift baskets or other gifts: ‘Happy Holidays from Spiegler Performance Parts. Thank you for your patronage in 2006, and, for many of you, years before that. To celebrate the holiday season, we have made a contribution in the name of the Customers of Spiegler Performance Parts to the Roadracing World Action Fund to purchase and maintain inflatable barriers at motorcycle races throughout the U.S. In this way, all of us will be giving the gift of safety to the very racers whose talents and achievements we all admire so much. We hope that each of you approves of this gift and we look forward to serving you in 2007. – Your Spiegler Team.’ ” Fastrackriders.com and Chris Ulrich teamed up at California Speedway on Thanksgiving Day weekend to raise funds for both the Roadracing World Action Fund and injured racer Vincent Haskovec. Chris Ulrich gave two-up motorcycle rides for $25 each, raising $1455. Fastrackriders.com held an auction raising $5931, then contributed an extra $1614 to make it an even $9000 for the weekend. Half that amount will be used by the Roadracing World Action Fund and half will be sent to newly formed non-profit organization Red Flag Fund on behalf of Vincent Haskovec. The Red Flag Fund took over the task of assisting injured racers from the now-retired Wegman Fund, and recently announced that it will assist former AMA pro motorcycle road racer Haskovec with the management and distribution of money raised to help offset the cost of his ongoing treatment–which runs $115 per hour–and related medical expenses. The Floribama Riders donated $500, adding to last year’s donation of $300, for a total of $800. Woods McRoy, Treasurer/Membership Director wrote: “The Floribama Riders, Inc. is a not-for-profit club comprised of over 250 motorcycling enthusiasts scattered throughout Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. We promote the sport we love by active participation in riding, racing, event spectating, trackdays , training , wrenching, and supporting other organizations that feel the same way we do. Since many of our members are racers, we have a personal appreciation for the work that the Roadracing World Action Fund, Inc. does and wish to support the work with a donation of $500. This is but a small gift by we know you will put it to good use.” Members of Intrepid Café Racers have made contributions “In Memory of Charles Turner,” including Scott Turner, $200 ($100 for road race and $100 for dirt track); Mike Hoy, $50; and Lewis Kirk, $50. The Intrepid Café Racers have donated a total of $1075. Summary of Recently Posted Contributions (Contributor comments and dedications are included below with their listing.
