Roadracingworld.com and Fastrack Riders’ third annual Thanksgiving Weekend fundraiser, November 24-25 at California Speedway, in Fontana, California, raised $7500 for the Red Flag Fund (a non-profit organization that provides financial support and assistance to road racers who are seriously injured, like Pro racer Vincent Haskovec) and the Roadracing World Action Fund (a non-profit organization which advocates and promotes the use of soft barriers to prevent racetrack injuries). Highlights of the fundraiser were a silent auction that included a Freddie Spencer High Performance Riding School and 10-day and 5-day Fastrack Riders track day packages, and rides on Chris Ulrich’s two-seat Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki GSX-R1000 AMA Superstock racebike. Very windy conditions on the first day hurt attendance, but Ulrich gave a total of 24 three-lap, 150-plus-mph rides over the two days, raising a total of $1350. The silent auction raised $5094, and Fastrack Riders rounded the total donation amount up to $7500. The fundraiser was held in conjunction with a regularly scheduled Fastrack Riders two-day track day event. Organizers of the event are already making plans for next year’s fundraiser.
