Butler Machinery’s Robert Jensen sets four track records on his Michelin shod Suzuki 1000 and the Rocky Stargel Yamaha R1. Starting an eight-race weekend road trip from Utah all the way down to Georgia, Jensen has raced his way to 27 first place finishes and four track records over the past eight weekends. The latest record at Blackhawk Farms Raceway was set while using a used Michelin PRC front and a used Michelin PRD rear tire with pump gas on a Michelin shod Yamaha R1 built by Rocky Stargel. “We picked up the new bike from Rocky, added a 25 mil kit from Ohlins shipped directly to the track. I installed the fork kit at the track in between practice sessions and races on my Yamaha R6.” Jensen started the CCS GTO race on Saturday with used Michelin tires to show everyone the new Michelin PRC in combination with the new rear tires work extremely well even after they are heat cycled. “The new R1 had 40 laps total when the race started but I just wanted to set the record on Saturday so I could concentrate totally on the contingency races on Sunday.” said Jensen. “I should have put new tires on before trying to set the record but as it turned out, I didn’t need them. My Michelin tires in combination with the Ohlins forks and the Rocky Stargel built R1 worked flawlessly.” New Lap Records Set By Rob Jensen: Blackhawk Farms Raceway 1:08.657 Carolina Motorsports Park 1:31.445 Grattan Raceway 1:17.399 Road Atlanta Raceway (New Turn 12) 1:27.696 Robert Jensen is sponsored by: Butler Machinery, Michelin, Ohlins, Spiegler Brake Systems, Olathe Suzuki, Esjot, Leo Vince, Carbone Lorraine, Arai, Spidi, Sharkskinz, Tsubaki, Factory Pro, Motorex, U Motors, Wheels, Yoyodyne, Yamaha, and Suzuki. Dan Ortega was the first rider on a 600cc machine to dip into the 1:09s at Blackhawk Farms. Ortega was riding a 2008 Yamaha R6 with a MD Racing tuned engine and Thermosman tuned Ohlins suspension. During the CCS (Championship Cup Series) Middleweight Supersport race at Blackhawk Farms Dan Ortega did a 1:09.847 running down Robert Jensen the first time a 600 has dipped below the 1:10 mark. Both riders kept the pace in the 1:09s for most of the race. Robert Jensen came out on top with Dan Ortega taking 2nd in the Middleweight Supersport race.
