Racer Roberto “Robertino” Pietri returned to Venezuela Sunday after undergoing surgery last week to correct problems with “arm pump” in both forearms. The surgery to deal with compartment syndrome, common among racers, was performed in the Southern California city of Murrieta by Dr. Paul Reiman of Alexander-Reiman Orthopaedics. Pietri, who raced at two Formula USA Nationals and one AMA Superbike National in the U.S. during the 2005 season, is the son of 1980s AMA Superbike star Roberto Pietri, who rode a Yoshimura Suzuki before joining the American Honda team. Robertino Pietri plans on racing the full AMA season in 2006.
