Roger Edmondson’s Letter To MOTO-ST Teams

From an e-mail that showed up in our editorial e-mail box: TO: All SunTrust MOTO-ST Series Teams, I am quite sure that by now anxiety must be running high in our community, due to our going “off the air” for such an extended period of time. I can only apologize and ask you to maintain your confidence in us and our efforts to grow this sport into the property it can be. For several weeks now, we have been engaged in negotiations with a third party on a project that will dramatically change the face of our sport and elevate SunTrust MOTO-ST to the forefront of American motorcycle sports. All of this has taken longer than expected and all of this is covered by a nondisclosure agreement, which means I cannot tell you anything about it at this time. What I can tell you is that the first two races of the year will take place as planned. The opening round at Daytona will run with CCS, as it did in 2007, and the second round of the series will be at VIR, using the full course and sharing the weekend with the Rolex Daytona Prototypes. We have published a provisional schedule and that is the correct terminology…..provisional. The 2008 schedule will consist of between seven and ten total races. I cannot confirm the dates today, but will be able to do so by the time we get together at Daytona. In the next few days the Daytona entry mailing will be sent to all of you. Included will be the entry forms, team registration forms, individual membership forms, an event schedule, the rule changes for 2008, and the new purse structure, which I believe will be more attractive to more teams. The entry deadlines will be moved to mid-February to allow for more time to get your affairs in order and line up your riders and crew members. Thank you for your patience and continued support. Sincerely yours, ROGER EDMONDSON
