The seventh round of the Superbike World Championship will take place over the weekend of May 29-30-31 at the Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah, in the USA. The race-card scheduled the two Superbike races on Monday, because the last Monday of May in the United States is a traditionally set aside for Memorial Day to honour soldiers who have died serving their country. The Miller Motorsport track was originally conceived as a novelty track for Larry H. Miller, owner of the NBA’s Utah Jazz, to use as a personal playground. The track was designed by world renowned engineer Alan Wilson. The large track was opened to the public on 1 April 2006. On 22 August, 2007, Miller Motorsports Park announced a three-year deal to bring the FIM Superbike World Championship to the track; the Superbike World Championship has raced at the track for the first time on 1 June 2008 with the AMA Superbike Championship. Roger Lee Hayden is no stranger to the track however. Roger is an ex AMA Superbike and Supersport rider and so he knows the track quite well. Baiocco will race for the first time on the Miller Motorsports track and he’s eager to get to know this new circuit. Matteo Baiocco : “The Miller track will be a completely new experience for me, I’ve heard it is a very fast track and this is the kind of circuit that I like. I came away from the last round in Kyalami that was disappointed and so I’m hoping to have a much more positive weekend now in Miller Motorsports Park. I know my team hasn’t stopped working on my bike and so I hope to be more competitive starting from Salt Lake City races”. Roger Lee Hayden : “I’m looking forward to racing at my home circuit and I’m really happy to be here in Miller this weekend. It makes a big change to be heading towards a race with track knowledge, this will be the first time this year I’ve gone to a track I’ve raced at before. We have to work well to get a good race set-up because I know this track is different from all the others on the calendar. Of course I want to do well in front of my home crowd. A lot of friends will be coming along to see me race so I hope to be able to have two great races”.
