A fantastic victory of Roberto Rolfo in Misano! Nice weather condition today in Misano Adriatico for the first races of the Superstock 1000 and Superbike Italian Championship. Due to their excellent performances in yesterday’s qualifying session, today Roberto Rolfo started from the first row with the third fastest lap time while Marco Borciani followed him in second row with the fifth best lap time. Fulvio Faccietti continued his learning experience on board the Superbike starting from the sixth row of the starting grid of the today eighteenth laps race. Rolfo started very well from the first row reaching the first position but the race was stopped with the red flag, due to an accident in the first curve that unfortunately involved also Faccietti and he was not able to start the second part of the race when the new 14 lap race restarted. Rolfo second start was not so good as the first one, but in a few laps he was able to reach the second position very close to the leader Baiocco. With seventh laps to go Rolfo passed Baiocco taking the lead and snatching an extraordinary first victory for Pedercini Kawasaki team. After a good start Marco Borciani obtained the seventh position but as the race proceeded he was unable to progress due to some chattering problem and he finished the race in tenth place. My first start was really very fast but unfortunately the race direction stopped the race with the red flag. In the second part of the race I take a few laps to pass Baiocco. I wanted to pass him earlier, but it was impossible as he didn’t leave me any space. I am of course, extremely happy with the results obtained as this is my first win with the Pedercini team and on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. During the full weekend I worked very hard with my team and with Andreani technicians and we improved a lot the bike’s set up. A sincere thank you to Andreani staff and to the entire Pedercini team for their hard work and dedication.” Marco Borciani: “I’m really disappointed because after a very good start I have begun to feel chattering coming from the rear wheel. After few laps I did not succeed to ride my bike as I would have had and I have lost some positions. Without this problem I could have reached one of the first fifth places. We have lost a good opportunity to gain a nice result. In any case this was only my first race with Pedercini team and on my Kawasaki ZX-10R and so I’m sure we’ll reach better results in the next races”. First race of the season today on Misano World Circuit for the three Superstock riders of the Team Pedercini, at only one week before the first race of the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup that will take place in Assen on 17th April. Very quick start for Mercado while Staring and Bussolotti fought in the middle of the group. Near to the middle of the race Mercado lost the contact with the first riders ending the race in sixth position. With a fast race pace Bussolotti recovered a lot of positions reaching the final seventh place. Unfortunately Staring crashed during the last lap due to a contact with another rider, fortunately without physical consequences. Superstock 1000 Race : 1) Petrucci (Ducati) 2) Barrier (BMW) 3) Zanetti (BMW) 4) Clementi (BMW) – 5) Magnoni (BMW) – 6) Mercado (Kawasaki) 7) Bussolotti (Kawasaki) “¦ Ret Staring (Kawasaki) Leandro Mercado :”It was a very nice race. After a fantastic start I was able to fight in the first group of riders but very soon I understood that my race pace was not fast enough to remain with them. I lost the contact with the front group and I preferred to end the game reaching the sixth position. It was my first race with this bike and with the Pedercini team and I want to thank all of them for their great job in this weekend. Now I’m ready for Assen”. Marco Bussolotti :”My start was not so bad but in the first curve I had a small gear problem and I lost a lot of positions. Fortunately my race pace was really fast and I was able to recover positions and to end the race in seventh place. During the race I suffered because of some set up problems that I’m sure my technicians will solve before the next Assen race. Overall I’m satisfied with my today performance and I’m now looking forward to the first Superstock 1000 FIM Cup race in Assen”. Bryan Staring :”Unfortunately I crashed during the last lap. My front wheel touched the rear wheel of another rider and it was impossible to avoid the crash. It’ only a race accident but I’m really disappointed because it was my first race with this bike and it was a positive race until the crash. I’m sure I’ll be able to do something better in the next race in Assen because my feeling with the bike is going better and better and my team is working really very well”.
