Just a few days after clinching their fifth straight British Superbike victory, strengthening their hold at the top of the Championship table, Airwaves Yamaha head to the 2.3 mile Thruxton circuit in Hampshire for Round 4 this weekend. Leon Camier increased his lead in the Championship to 28 points at Donington Park. A win in race one was followed by 12th in race two after a technical issue halted his charge at the front of the field. Looking ahead to Round 4, Leon said, “I spend half my time living nearby in Wimborne, Dorset, so Thruxton is like a home race for me. I’ve always really enjoyed riding the circuit and I think the Airwaves Yamaha YZF-R1 should be well suited to it. The guys back at the workshop have been working around the clock since Donington Park to look at the problems we had in race two, so I’m confident we should have a good weekend. A lot of my friends will be at the track on race day, so I’ll be aiming to give them all something to celebrate about.” James Ellison scored his best ever results in the British Superbike Championship last time out, finishing 2nd in race one before taking his maiden win in race two. James now lies 2nd in the Championship on 89 points. On the forthcoming race weekend, James commented, “Going straight from Donington Park to Thruxton means a tight turnaround for everyone, but it can’t come soon enough for me. I can’t wait to get back on the bike and carry on this good momentum. It hasn’t really sunk in just how well Donington Park went. My first BSB win was a long time coming, but the way the Airwaves Yamaha YZF-R1 is performing, I don’t think it’ll be long before we’re on the top step of the podium once again.” Round 4 of the British Superbike Championship takes place on Sunday 31st May.
