Hot track and fast lap times at MRA Round 3
Pueblo, CO – The MRA continued its championship season with races at Pueblo Motorsports Park over the weekend of June 20-21. Of the three MRA race venues, Pueblo with its lower elevation and 3000’ front straight is where high horsepower and pinned throttles yield excellent results. But Pueblo is also where racers and machines are tested by the elements which this weekend included 100 degree temperatures and extremely dry conditions.
Ryan Burke (#27) on his 2015 Yamaha R1M was to be the man to beat. On Saturday, Burke established early dominance with a win in Open Supersport ahead of Ricky Orlando (#12) and Louis Ortiz Jr (#23). Later that afternoon, he came from a 3rd row start in Open Endurance to the lead the race from lap 2 to the finish. But Burke wasn’t done. Sunday morning he bested Dan Turner (#3) and Chris Nami (#13) in Race of the Rockies qualifying to claim the pole with a scorching 1:31.920 lap. He then went on to claim the wins in Open Superbike and finally Race of the Rockies GTO to round out 4 wins in 4 races. Burke is backed by Vickery Motorsports and the Burke family including Kathy and Uncle Dennie (#17).
Once again the MRA’s Ironman Shannon Moham (#945) came well prepared for the challenge of the elements and competitors. At the end of the weekend he’d racked up 10 wins in 10 classes, including all Heavyweight classes, all Lightweight classes, all Middleweight classes where he didn’t have a conflict, SuperTwins GTU, Modern Vintage GTU, and Race of the Rockies GTU. While he was at it all, he set new track records in 4 of those classes. Wyeth Jackson (#145) was able to easily claim victory in Ladies of the Rockies ahead of a fierce podium battle between Patricia Gay (#446) and Tiffany Maestas (#282), with Gay getting the best of Maestas with 2 laps to go. Jackson is the first female racer in MRA history to reach the Race of the Rockies podium. She raced extensively with the CVMA over the winter and claimed the #5 plate with that club. Her dedication paid off this weekend with a total of 4 podiums in: Middleweight Supersport, Formula 40 GTU, Race of the Rockies GTU, and, of course, Ladies of the Rockies, where she set a new class track record at 1:38.067. In other class dominations, Adam Ayers (#771) took wins in Amateur GTU, Amateur GTO, and Formula 40 GTU, where he grabbed a new class track record of 1:37.927. Bruce Stafford (#339) won both Novice GTU & GTO races, adding a new class track record of 1:36.771 in Novice GTU. He also took 2nd and 3rd in Amateur GTU and GTO respectively and scored another class track record of 1:36.772 in the GTO class. Ayers receives help from Way to Grow, Livwell, Aptus, Rocky Mountain Genetix, Woodcraft, and Armor Bodies. Stafford rides for Faasst Motorsports Inc., KTech Suspension, Moto D Racing, Motomummy.com, SCS Nissan, Imperial Sportbikes, Dunlop, SMC Tuning and Vortex.

MRA’s Shannon Moham Dominates at Pueblo Motorsports Park with 10 Race Wins!
MRA racers are no strangers to Pueblo Motorsports Park blazing summer temperatures, and this past weekend the club raced their 3rd round with temps soaring in the 100’s. This didn’t stop MRA racer #945, Shannon Moham, from
absolutely dominating the field the entire weekend. Moham and his family travels in their Evergreen Amped toyhauler with 3 Dunlop shod motorcycles, all sitting atop Race Tech Suspension components.
Moham pushed those bikes to the limit this past weekend and it showed! With temperatures soaring, the track was brutal for many….but Moham didn’t miss a beat. Starting off the weekend Saturday morning, with triple back--to--back races—Middleweight Supersport, Lightweight GP, and Heavyweight Supersport, he won all three races. With only 2 races in between to catch his breath, Moham then proceeded to race back to back Lightweight and Heavyweight Endurance races (30 minutes each), winning both races. This ended Moham’s day with a grand total of 5 Race Wins. And that was just the beginning.
Sunday’s temperatures proved to be just as brutal, if not worse, and the track was, once again, quite unforgiving for many of it’s highly qualified racers. With friends and fellow racers going down and being transported to local hospitals, what seemed like left and right, Moham brought a clear head and put the hammer down. Starting the day with back--to--back races, Moham brought in the wins, X2, in Middleweight Superbike and Modern Vintage GTU. After lunch, he still couldn’t be stopped. Racer #945 brought home the Premier Win in Race of the Rockies GTU on his Yamaha R6. With again, only one race in between to rest and rehydrate, Shannon Moham wrapped up his weekend winning his 9th, and 10th races; Supertwins GTU, and Heavyweight Superbike. The Icing on the cake….Moham set 3 New Class Track Records: Heavyweight Superbike, Race of the Rockies GTU, and Supertwins GTU.
10 Race Wins in one weekend for one MRA racer is something to be recognized. These race wins don’t just happen. Moham and his crew worked hard all weekend to make sure all the bikes kept going in the heat and Shannon would like to recognize all that hard work. “Race Tech’s suspension is always top notch and I’ve never felt better racing my bikes. And what can I say about Dunlop that I haven’t said over and over. Their tires are incredible and put me on the podium time and time again”! He and is team have quite a bit to be proud of.
