Ryan Sutton and the DIABLO™ SUPERBIKE Slicks Capture Pirelli’s Fourth Track Bounty of 2017
ROME, Ga. (June 30, 2017) – Just one month after setting the absolute motorcycle track record, Ryan “Chromie” Sutton returned to The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington and reset the record books once again. Sutton, who was competing aboard a 2016 BMW 1000RR, was credited with the incredible feat on Sunday, June 25 during the fourth round of the Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association’s (WMRRA) 2017 season. This new lap record marked Pirelli’s fourth track bounty of the year and the second for Sutton.
“It’s an amazing feeling to come back to The Ridge Motorsports Park and top my own record,” said Sutton. “I knew that it would be extremely difficult to go much faster than the lap I was able to put down here in May, but the Pirelli DIABLO™ SUPERBIKE slicks are on another level and provided excellent performance all weekend long.”
Sutton’s record setting lap time of 1:38.124 came during lap 6 of the Open Superbike race while using Pirelli’s DIABLO SUPERBIKE SC1 front and SC0 rear slicks. The previous record, also set by Sutton, was a 1:38.709 and occurred during WMRRA’s third round of the season on May 27. In that round, Sutton used his blistering quick speed to distance himself from the competition and take the checkered flag in the Open Superbike race.
“Chromie [Ryan Sutton] continues to impress me with his accomplishments in the Northwest region,” said Oscar Solis, Pirelli road racing manager. “He’s a very determined individual and has demonstrated that Pirelli is committed to continuously improving our products in order to keep up with the demands of today’s riders and the latest motorcycle technology.”
