Triumph is the featured marque for the 2008 AMA Vintage Days July 25-27 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and Team S-Works/Triumph/Commonwealth plans to participate in AHRMA racing action in the Sound Of Thunder class on their FX bikes, as well as an arrangement with Baxter Cycles of Marne, IA to ride a very special 1972 Triumph Seeley machine in the Formula 750 class. Team S-Works rider, Shane Narbonne will run both bikes and will be competing on a vintage bike for his first time. The bike is twice Shane’s age, but he should adapt quickly with his vast experience with different bikes between Dirt Track, Motard, and Road Racers. From team owner Bob Robbins “Randy Baxter (Triumph guru) of Baxter Cycles was very interested from the first mention of the idea, and after working out some details, including having Nathan Wahlert, the builder and tuner of this bike come along, we look forward to the opportunity. Jim Callahan of Triumph was instrumental in helping match us up with Randy” Event plans include having former champion Gene Romero and TMA boss Mark Kennedy do some laps of honor on the teams 675’s. The team also plans to do some special autograph sessions throughout the weekend and will have an FX bike on display with the Triumph factory set up. Mid-Ohio and the vintage days has one of the largest turnouts with it’s many special events combined with Modern Singles, Twins and Triples along with the huge turnout of Vintage class bikes. There is something for everyone. The AMA series follows the AHRMA weekend at Mid-Ohio, and the team looks forward to a strong finish, being back at a track we are very familiar with and where Shane has placed well before. The rookie season team has attended all rounds of AMA and looks forward to the rest of the season, hoping to move into the top ten for points in FX with the next few rounds at familiar tracks. Shane is currently 13th.
