Portuguese racer Miguel Praia is suffering from a broken bone in his shoulder and is just one second behind the top 10 and easing himself back into riding. There is another practice and qualifying session before the race takes place at 1330CET on Sunday 12th June. Sam: “It is good to get back riding and back where we belong on the timesheets, I am really enjoying myself. My Parkalgar Honda is such a good package and I am happy with provisional pole but will be working hard to see if we can improve further. My target is the race win, plain and simple, On It.” Miguel: “My shoulder is little bit weak and is hard into left-handers and direction changes, but it is getting better all the time. The team are working with me with the bike to allow me to ride round the weakness better.” Simon Buckmaster, Parkalgar Honda Team Manager: “Sam’s done a great job today, he is back to full fitness which shows with provisional pole. There is still some improvement to come from him and the bike so we will work together to try and secure our first pole of the season tomorrow. “Miguel is OK but has lost a little bit of strength in his shoulder due to his injury. He is getting better each session and we are confident he can improve tomorrow.” More, from a press release issued by Bogdanka PTR Honda: BOGDANKA PTR HONDA’s James Ellison was tenth quickest in today’s opening qualifying session for Sunday’s World Supersport race at Misano and is showing good potential for tomorrow after late set up changes made to his bike. Pawel Szkopek was 18th on the provisional grid and pleased with his pace and progress. He will be looking to improve his times further tomorrow. Bogdanka PTR Honda’s Superstock 1000 rider, Marcin Walkowiak, finds himself 30th on the grid after the opening qualifying. James Ellison: “The team has found something today to solve a problem I’ve had on corner entry at Assen and Monza and it was a completely different bike, a lot easier to ride, just like at Donington Park. I’m still learning the track so I was pleasantly surprised to be in tenth position this morning. In the afternoon there was a lot of slow riders waiting for a tow and I didn’t have a single clean lap. The bike worked really good on a soft tyre and I’ve had a lot of grip so I’m confident we can put it on the front row tomorrow.” Pawel Szkopek: “It was a great decision to test in the UK recently because this allowed me to go really quickly today and feel very confident at Misano. I’m sure we can have a good race and make it to the finish in a strong position. Hopefully the weather will allow us go to faster tomorrow, because I know where I can improve and then have a solid result on Sunday.” Marcin Walkowiak: “Things didn’t go off to a great start but we know in which direction to go for tomorrow. The setup we’ve found in testing at Mallory and Donington Park was great but doesn’t quite work here so we need to go back to the setup we had during the test we had here a few weeks ago. I was two seconds faster back then than I was today, so we know we can go quicker. I just hope it will stay dry for tomorrow.” More, from a press release issued by Hannspree Ten Kate Honda: Fabien Foret set the fifth fastest time in this afternoon’s first qualifying session for Sunday’s fifth round World Supersport championship at Misano in Italy. Fellow Honda rider Sam Lowes set the fastest time as Foret’s Hannspree Ten Kate Honda team-mate, Florian Marino, was eighth. After a four week lay off, the World Supersport riders were happy to take to the 4.226km Misano circuit all except joint series leader Luca Scassa, who has been disqualified from this, his home round, after infringing testing regulations. With showers forecast for tomorrow afternoon, it was important for both Hannspree Ten Kate Honda riders to bank a good qualifying time today. With both on the provisional second row, the French duo is satisfied but knows there is more work to do to improve their positions tomorrow. Fabien Foret P5, 1m40.133s Well, I’m not really happy with my positi on, but I’m quite happy with the bike and my performance at the moment. The important thing is that I can move around the bike without any problems now for the first time this season. It feels normal on the bike, but now I need to get used to riding the way I did before and to build my confidence again. We need to change some things to improve the time and my position tomorrow, but I’m comfortable on the bike now and that makes everything much easier. Florian Marino P8, 1m40.467s It was quite hard this afternoon harder than this morning because I was having to fight the bike quite a lot. It felt like it wanted to go one way when I wanted to go in another direction! We need to be working together more but at least I managed to save things by jumping from P16 to the second row at the end of the session. For sure we need to change some things to improve our position more tomorrow and it’ll be much better when we can find those solutions. More, from a press release issued by Yamaha ParkinGO Team: Second provisional position for Chaz Davies at the end of the first day at Misano on the Supersport World Championship. Position that most likely will remain due to the high probability of rain forecast for tomorrow. During the two sessions today, the main goal for the Team and the British rider has been to get back the feeling of the bike after the month off that Supersport riders have had, in order to get a good time for the starting grid on Sunday but only a crash at the end of the qualifying has stopped the Yamaha ParkinGO rider to be able to fight for the pole position. The Team Owner, Giuliano Rovelli, has done a great job in the “Two Countries Cup” finishing the first qualifying in seventh position. Chaz Davies – Yamaha YZF R6 #7 – “The team has done an excellent job setting up the bike for the race. I am quite satisfied for the second position but if I didn’t crash in “Del Rio” corner at the end of the session, I could have fought for the pole position. Tomorrow I’ll work on the wet set up as it is forecast rain for the whole day, to be able to answer to any possible conditions during the race on Sunday”.
