Round 2 of the Oregon Motorcycle Road Racing Association, May 2nd 3rd, is on deck in a few weeks.

More, from a press release issued by OMRRA:

The Oregon Motorcycle Road Racing Association Presented by The MotoClub from SDS Performance kicked off the 2009 season with round 1 on April 11th. at Portland International Raceway.

2009 Title Sponsor, The MotoClub from SDS Performance, provided generous “Holeshot” contingency for all race classes as well as for the premier Formula Ultra Class.

“We are happy to be the title sponsor for the OMRRA series for 2009 and 2010″, said Tyson Silva, co-owner of The MotoClub from SDS Performance. “The holeshot awards give everyone on the grid something to shoot for going into turn 1.”

With the start of the 37th consecutive season of Road Racing in Oregon, 2009 brings significant changes that promise to make the season battle for the overall championship come down to the wire.

Alan Schmidt (OMRRA overall champion 2004 – 2008 ) with countless class championship will face new challenges to repeat for a record 5 consecutive season. The overall championship will be won and lost on the biggest, fastest bikes piloted by OMRRA’s best and most experienced riders. Track records are bound to fall.

Over 28 different classes battled for class and season points this past weekend at Portland International Raceway. Race classes ranged from vintage CB-160s to the most modern sport bikes available. Heavy rains in the days and weeks before the round #1 of the OMRRA by The MotoClub from SDS Performance championship series this past weekend left the track green and less than confidence inspiring. However, that didn’t discourage the competitors who waited a long offseason to see the flag drop.
