Nick Schmitt to Make Pro Debut in MotoAmerica Superstock 600 Class

Raleigh, NC – Nick Schmitt and Screaming Chicken Racing are ready for the big time as they prepare for their first season of professional road racing in the 2016 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship. The team will be one of the few – if not the only – to contest aboard a Triumph motorcycle in the Superstock 600 class, and they are diligently preparing their 675R Daytona triple to battle an impressive list of established and up-and-coming riders.

At 24 years of age, Nick is entering only his fourth season of competitive racing; his third as a full-time competitor. However, the Raleigh, North Carolina resident has shown a level of racing maturity and results far exceeding his brief racing career. In 2013, competing in his first weekend of organized roadracing, Nick scored three second-place finishes, earning his WERA expert license. The following month, he achieved a third-place finish in the AMA Road Racing Grand Championships, racing against the best amateur riders in the country. Though only contesting half of that season’s races, Schmitt finished 2013 in the top five in four of the seven classes in which he entered. In 2014, Nick competed as a Novice in select WERA, CCS and ASRA-sanctioned events, and last season, he contested the WERA Expert National Challenge Series, claiming a top-four ranking in the season championship.

“I’ve only been racing for a short time, but I’ve consistently proven my abilities as a racer on the bike and as a dedicated ambassador to the sport and my sponsors off the bike,” said Nick. “This season, I’m looking forward to competing against the best riders in the country, improving my skills, posting some good results and earning my spot in American road racing.”

Screaming Chicken Racing was formed in Garner, North Carolina in March 1994 as an amateur motocross race team. Over the years, SCR has won multiple NC Motocross, District 29, Ultra Series and NC Winter Series championships. The team contested the National Arenacross series from 2004-2007 with a best finish of second. Screaming Chicken Racing expanded into roadracing in 2013 and continues to support other riders in the pursuit of their racing dreams. Screaming Chicken Racing currently supports seven riders, ranging in age from 11 to 50, in three disciplines of motorcycle racing.
