Greenwood and Beam Take Top Prizes in LRRS Round Five Dash for Cash

Scott Greenwood took first place, winning $500, in the Expert Dash for Cash while Ian Beam won $100 for taking first place in the Amateur Dash for Cash during round five of the Loudon Road Race Series.

LOUDON, N.H. – Thirty-seven riders took on the 1.6-mile road course at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Expert and Amateur MW Grand Prix Dash for Cash races in round five of the Loudon Road Race Series, but it was Scott Greenwood and Ian Beam who ended up on the top spot of the podium in victory lane on Saturday evening.

After a slow start in the Expert Dash for Cash, LRRS veteran Greenwood won $500 for his win after having a stronger restart after a red flag in lap two. He also led the field to the checkered flag six other times throughout the weekend, including in the GTU, HW Supersport, HW Superbike, MW Formula 40, MW Supersport and MW Superbike, all on his Yamaha YZF-R6.

“I got a bad start and was back to about fourth or fifth in to turn one. I worked by a few guys, caught Alex in three and then the red flag came out,” said Greenwood after his Expert Dash for Cash win. “It didn’t benefit me either way, because I was happy to catch back up to Alex and we were going to make a race of it, but on the restart I got a much better start. I kind of figured out Alan’s [starter] movements there a little bit, so I was more ready for him on the green flag and just tried to not do anything stupid and just ride clean laps.”

Rick Doucette, Joel Allen, Alexander Guilbeault, Samuel Greenwood, Adam Andrusia, Paul Duval and Kip Peterson rounded out the top eight in the Expert Dash for Cash, all winning prizes ranging from $325 – $25.

Doucette had a successful weekend with 10 top five finishes, including three first place wins in the GTL on his Yamaha R5 and in the LW Grand Prix and Formula 50 Lights on his Suzuki SV650. After an early battle with Guilbeault in the Expert Dash for Cash, Doucette mixed it up and was able to break free, but he wasn’t quite able to catch Greenwood, finishing 18.724 seconds behind him.

“No one was catching Scotty,” laughed Doucette after winning $325 with his second place finish. “It was one of my better starts in the Dash. I’m usually front row to about 12th and then work hard, so this one was a little nice – I didn’t have to work that hard. We battled back and forth, and I saw he [Guilbeault] was coming out of the seat a little in some of the drives, so when he got back by, I just waited and tried to get by. It was a good time. We had a good battle.”

In addition to his $100 Amateur Dash for Cash win, Beam also picked up first place in the Amateur HW Supersport and Amateur MW Superbike and second place in the Amateur HW Superbike, all on his Triumph 675.

Other winners this round include Charles “Jesse” Sandoz with four first place finishes (LW Superbike, Formula 40 Lights, Super Twins and Thunderbike) and two second place finishes (GTL and LW Grand Prix), Eric Wood with four first place finishes (Formula 40 Unlimited, Unlimited Grand Prix, Unlimited Supersport and Unlimited Superbike) and Vicente Frontinan with a first place finish (Amateur Formula 40 Unlimited) and two second place finishes (Amateur MW Grand Prix and Amateur MW Formula 40).

Round six of the Loudon Road Race Series returns to New Hampshire Motor Speedway Sept. 8-9.
