August 28th Shannonville Motorsports Park Hot Lap Events is excited to announce that August is upon us and with it, the Summer weather has finally hit us! The timing couldn’t better as we are less than a month from our Feature Weekend Triple Header on Aug 28th, 29th and 30th. This is a weekend that has it all. The weekend is kicked off with the 2nd running of the Max Mercier Safety Fund Track Day Event. Hot Lap Events and GoLo Racing have always been huge supporters of the Michel Mercier and Max Mercier Memorial Breakfast which has run annually for the last 4 years at Round #2 of the R.A.C.E. SuperSeries at Shannonville Motorsports Park. So when Michel put together the inaugural Max Mercier Safety Fund Track Day last year, Hot Lap Events owners A.J. Tibayan and Rahul Dua were quick to provide all their resources behind this great event and volunteered to organize and run the event in 2009, which Michel graciously accepted. This can’t miss Event will be run at Shannonville Motorsports Park on the Long Track configuration, one of it’s most popular track layouts. The Event will have a very fun and relaxed environment that will include all the standard offerings of a Hot Lap Event Track Day Event from complimentary Tim Horton’s coffee at registration, FREE BBQ lunch, Regional and National Racers on hand all day providing FREE on and off track coaching to ALL participants in ALL riding groups to GoLo Girlz roaming the paddock providing great picture ops to all attendees. All of this for the track day fee of $99.00 and 100% of this fee goes directly to the Safety Fund! Flair Photo will be taking breathtaking pictures for the riders on Friday August 28th. Flair Photo’s our own Jack is offering a generous contribution to the day be donating all the funds generated from CD sales to the MAX Riders Safety Funds. CD’s will be available at the end of the day for a minimal charge, riders are encouraged to pay more if they desire to raise more money. This is truly a day where EVERYONE wins! More, from a press release issued by Michel Mercier/FAST Riding School: A low-cost track day to raise money and increase the safety of the motorcyclists on race tracks. As we know riding on a racetrack is safer than on the street when we consider speeding. It is a sport that brings lots of thrills but that remains a little dangerous. There are many factors that we cannot do much about to increase safety of the participants, but there are others that can be worked on to benefit the race track motorcyclist riders/racers. That is one of the reasons why the “Max Mercier Safety Fund” was been established in 2005 after Max passed away after a racing accident. This Aug 28th day is a Track Day being held on the popular Long Track at Shannonville Motorsport Park. The cost is minimal and all the profits are going to the “Max Mercier Safety Fund”. The riders will be able to enjoy their motorcycles and can enter one of the following classes: Novice, Intermediate, Expert. Canadian Superbike Champion and FAST school owner Michel Mercier, the GoLo Racing Team and a wealth of Expert/AM racers will be on hand to answer all your riding questions. The day is hosted by the FAST Riding School and Hot Lap Events. Many contributors are donating their time, expertise and profits to this special safety fund money raising day: Quality Patient Transfer Ambulance service, CMRC marshals, Canadian Motorcycle Association (insurance), Shannonville Motorsport Park, Hot Laps Events, GoLo Racing, FAST Riding School, Jana Water, Flair Photo and more”¦ If you cannot make that day but would like to give a donation for the fund, any amount, all small amounts ads up, please do so by using the same contacts and numbers. So far “Max Mercier safety fund” has improved the safety of the race track for riders by: *** Purchasing a “Defibrillator” that is available to any one that would like to rely on for an event *** We had the run off area of corner #2 of the Pro Track at Shannonville all redone for smoother off track ride when in trouble. *** We have more ideas towards increasing the safety of the race track motorcyclist riders/racers, but we would like to hear your suggestions on how we could increase the safety of the race track for you, the riders. You can register at the FAST Riding School, tel 418-422-5500 fax 418-422-5520. and at www.hotlapevents.com
