SEELEY READY TO KEEP PRESSURE UP ON TITLE RIVALS AT OULTON PARK The Motorpoint British Supersport Championship returns to Oulton Park this weekend (9/10/11 August) and Gearlink Kawasaki’s Alastair Seeley is ready to keep the pressure up on his chasing rivals, as he bids to maintain his position at the top of the standings. Seeley heads the field by 40 points but Martrain Yamaha’s Stuart Easton was victorious at the Cheshire circuit in May and after the pair’s photo finish for the win at Brands Hatch, the Scottish rider will be pushing to add to his winning tally. Seeley and Easton were inseparable at the previous event and with the second Gearlink Kawasaki of Ben Wilson also closing in, claiming the victories this weekend could prove critical in the fight for the title. Seeley said: “Oulton Park is hopefully going to be a good weekend for us and we want to be going for another double win. Last time we were there the races went down to the wire on the last corner of the last lap and I don’t expect this weekend to be any different. The only thing I can see is that the leading group will have more of us in the mix, a bit like at Brands Hatch. It is nice for us to have that buffer in the standings at the moment, but it can change fast so we need to keep that up. We need to keep that pressure on the riders behind us at the moment and we want to do that this weekend.” Smiths Racing Triumph’s Billy McConnell had a double podium finish at Oulton Park earlier in the season and is ready to challenge for the top three after a disappointing Brands Hatch, whilst his team-mate and defending champion Glen Richards aims to open his account of podium finishes this weekend. Graeme Gowland became the fifth rider to claim a podium finish at Brands Hatch and despite parting company with the Seton Tuning Yamaha team returns this weekend in Team Appleyard Macadam Doodson Yamaha colours. This round also marks the debut in the Championship of former MCE Insurance British Superbike contender Danny Buchan who moves to the Seton Tuning Yamaha team following a recent test at the Cheshire circuit. Buchan has plenty of experience on a 600cc machine when he finished third in the 2011 National Superstock Championship. Samsung Honda’s Jason O’Halloran has come close to a podium finish but will be aiming for celebrations at Oulton Park, whilst Glenn Irwin, Jake Dixon and Luke Jones are set to be in contention. Motorpoint British Supersport Championship standings: 1. Alastair Seeley (Gearlink Kawasaki) 250 2. Stuart Easton (Martrain Yamaha) 210 3. Ben Wilson (Gearlink Kawasaki) 189 4. Billy McConnell (Smiths Racing Triumph) 170 5. Graeme Gowland (Seton Tuning Yamaha) 138 For more information please visit www.britishsuperbike.com
