2005 Irish Superbike Champion Alastair Seeley, from Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland, has signed for New York based Celtic Racing and will ride in at least six more of this season’s AMA rounds, starting with Barber at the end of April. Seeley rode a Pirelli-shod, Markbuilt Racebikes-prepared 2005 Yamaha R6 for Celtic Racing at the Daytona AMA round, and first time out of his home country the 25-year-old made a big impact, finishing ninth in the Supersport race. Seeley was also in the running for a top eight finish in the Daytona 200 FX event but unfortunately highsided out while chasing down his fellow countryman Jeremy McWilliams. Celtic Racing is owned by Barry Gilsenan. Seeley won the Irish Superbike championship last year on a Yamaha R1 and will defend his native title this year with a Celtic Racing Suzuki GSXR 1000 with support from Irish Bike Monthly and Mark Hamilton.
