From a press release issued by Serpent Racing: Calvin Martinez of Slinger Wisconsin, Jason Temme of Palatine Illinois and Marco Martinez of Davie Florida have formed a new team to compete in the 2008 Moto-ST series. The team will fly under the Serpent Racing banner and field a Ducati 848 in the Super Sport Twins class. The team’s bikes are currently being prepared for competition by Edouard Henriequez of Ducati Miami in conjunction with Champion Motorcycle in Davie, Florida which is owned by Marco Martinez. Marco has a successful history with Ducati motorcycles and in 2005 competed on a Ducati 999 previously owned by Carl Fogarty. Marco commented,” this new Ducati 848 is really nice, I’m sure it’s going to be competitive against the larger displacement machines allowed in the Super Sport Twin class”. “I can’t wait to get the bikes on the track and develop a good baseline set-up that we can work from”. “I’m really looking forward to riding with my team mates in this endurance racing series” Calvin Martinez and his associated teams have held the number one plate in the ASRA (formerly Formula USA) Team Challenge Series since 2001 and bring a wealth of endurance racing experience to the team. “I’m really excited about the team we’re building” said Calvin. “Marco and I have ridden together as a team in the past and with the addition of Jason we’re going to have a great line up”. “Each of the team members assembled thus far have strengths that complement each other and I’m very pleased with the way things are coming together”. Calvin and Jason Temme will be co-owners of the team and Jason’s long time Crew Chief and father James Temme will be Crew Chief for the newly formed Team as well. Jason and James have won multiple National Championship Titles together and have competed in WERA’s National Endurance Series as well. “I can’t wait to ride the Ducati 848″ said Jason. “We’re under a tight time line with a bit of a late start, so I hope Marco is able to get the bikes ready to test at the CCS Homestead event which is just around the corner”. “We’re really moving fast right now to get everything in place but with the progress we’ve made in just the past week, I’m confident we’ll be ready for the high banks of Daytona at the season opener”. “I’m also looking forward to working with Marco, I believe his experience of transition between in-line four cylinder machines and the Ducati twin will help me make the change and get up to speed quickly”. PCS Enterprises Inc., a new sponsor for Serpent Racing in 2007 is on-board for this new Moto-ST effort as well. Ducati Miami and Champion Motorcycle will also bring sponsorship for 2008 and the team is currently working to solidify other sponsorship support and will release those details as soon as they become available. Those interested in sponsoring the team can learn more about Serpent Racing and the fine companies and people that sponsor the team at http://www.serpentraicng.com or inquire via email at [email protected].
