8 Hours of Albacete Qualifications SERT takes pole in hands, ahead of BMP Elf 99, YART and GMT 94 The Suzuki Endurance Racing Team regained the first position in the second qualifying session of the 8 Hours of Albacete. On the official Suzuki, Vincent Philippe (who despite a small crash remains the fastest rider on track, with a best 1’31.339 lap), Daisaku Sakai and Freedy Foray all improved their laptimes. Behind the SERT is the Honda BMP Elf 99. With a great performance from Damian Cudlin and Matthieu Lagrive, both lapping below the 1’32 bar, the Honda managed to get a much better result from the second session. Yamaha Austria Racing Team also improved their performance with Igor Jerman, Steve Martin and Gwen Giabbani, and took the third place on the provisional starting grid. Then comes the Yamaha France GMT 94 Ipone. David Checa, Gregorio Lavilla and Kenny Foray made impression by clinching the best times with their Yamaha during the first qualifying session. Hence, they used the second session to confirm some set-up with their race tyres Bridgestone, before tomorrow’s Superpole, which will reallocate the twenty first places on the starting grid. The Bolliger Switzerland Kawasaki of Horst Saiger, Patric Muff and Roman Stamm finished in a fifth place, just behind the first Superstock machine, the impressive Suzuki of Qatar Endurance Racing Team ridden by Anthony Delhalle, Alex Cudlin and Rashid Al Mannai. On the Yamaha BK Maco Moto Racing, Jason Pridmore and Victor Carrasco took the seventh place and seemed to get finally rid of the black cat that was spoiling their efforts since last season. The Yamaha YMES Folch Endurance of Pedro Vallcaneras, Jordi Almeda and Jose-Luis Rita in eight place is in ambush, ahead of the Honda National Motos of Emeric Jonchière and David Morillon. Being both the first local team and the first S 1000 RR on the grid, the team BMW Andalucia is in tenth place, as the Suzuki Team 18 Sapeurs Pompiers is in fourteenth place as they solved their rear wheel axle problems. This day of qualifications is going to end up with a night testing session. Tomorrow morning, the twenty fastest teams will be called to attend the Superpole session. The start of the 8 Hours of Albacete is scheduled tomorrow Saturday at 6 pm. To follow live results, log on www.fim-live.com
