Seton Interceptor Racing has secured the signature of 2006 double British Supermoto champion Sam Warren to contest the 2011 Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship. After a successful three years in the National Superstock 1000 series, Sam is relishing the opportunity to step up a class to compete in his first season onboard a Yamaha Supersport machine. Team owner, Phil Seton is proud to be continuing his relationship with Yamaha, now entering its sixth year. The team will be based from Phil’s Colchester-based Seton Tuning workshop, where the Yamaha YZF-R6 will be developed into a prospective race winner in the new two-race Supersport format. A completely new rider line-up for the season ahead is spearheaded by 28 year-old Sam, from Derbyshire who will be joined by Australian youngster Ben Burke, competing in the National Superstock 600 class. A program of pre-season testing, both at home and in Spain, has been scheduled ahead of the opening round of the 2011 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship that takes place at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit over Easter Weekend (22-25 April). Sam Warren: “I’m so excited about the 2011 season and very grateful to Phil for giving me a chance in this class. I’ve never ridden a Supersport bike before but we’ve got a good testing programme so we should be competitive by the first round. After 3 years in Superstock 1000 and some good results, I feel now is a good time to step up a class. My motivation is sky high and I can’t wait to ride the bike for the first time.” Phil Seton: “This for me is the most excited I have been about the start of a new seasons racing for a long time. Ben will have to learn all the circuits but we have an extensive testing plan in place to help him do just that. I have been watching Sam for the last year and I feel he has all the riding attributes needed to succeed in the hotly contested Supersport Championship. The new set up with 2 races per weekend also plays to Sam’s strengths. There is new competition in the class with a factory backed effort from Suzuki, though we are hoping to show the Seton tuned Yamaha is still a match for this new bike. I am sure with Sam aboard we will reaffirm our position as the top Yamaha in the British Supersport Championship.” Get all the latest news and updates on Facebook at Seton Interceptor Racing, or click on www.seton-tuning.co.uk/racing
