This off-season we’re running a series showing your motorcycles. Not just your road racing bikes, but your streetbikes, motocross bikes, dirt bikes, pit bikes, mini bikes, trials bikes, land-speed bikes, drag bikes, speedway bikes, whatever you’ve got. If you have more than one bike, send photos of them all–alone or with you! Send in-focus bike photos (as jpeg files) along with the make, model and year of each bike and your name, city and state, plus the name of the photographer, to [email protected]. By sending us the photos, you are certifying that you own the rights to the photos and are giving us permission to feature them on roadracingworld.com. They may be posted on roadracingworld.com during slow news days.
Seen here in our 23rd installment are photos sent in by ASRA/CCS racer Anthony Kosinski, age 23, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. “My bike is a 2014 BMW S1000RR I raced with CCS this past year as an Amateur,” writes Kosinski, who works as an aerial survey pilot. “In 2015 I will be racing with CCS as an Expert on both my S1000RR and a Yamaha YZF-R6 being built currently.”
The first photo Kosinski sent in shows him racing his BMW at New Jersey Motorsports Park. The second photo shows Kosinski launching his BMW off the grid during the start of a race at Daytona International Speedway, and the third photo shows him (on the right) on the podium at Daytona, where he finished second in both the ASRA Superstock Amateur and the CCS Unlimited Supersport Amateur races.
In his rider profile on roadracingworld.com, Kosinski posted, “I grew up in New Carlisle, Indiana. It is a small town that has one stop light and the only traffic jams where from tractors heading to the fields. I got my first bike there when I turned 21, a 2011 Suzuki GSX-R750. It was a tough decision between a bike or my skydiving license; however, I know it was the right choice for me. I rode this bike to and from school for my Commercial Pilot license. The roads were straight and mostly highway.
“That next summer I moved to West Chester, Pennsylvania,” continues Kosinski. “The traffic jams were annoying (still are) and getting used to rush hour took time. But within a few weeks I found some back roads that didn’t have the traffic and had a lot of curves in them. I liked the curves but didn’t ever push it because of the gravel or other obstacles. After doing some research I found out that you can go to a racetrack and ride with a group. To my surprise the price was reasonable so I signed up. Halfway through the day I knew I loved the sport. The people were friendly and full of information to improve my riding.
“I went from Novice to Advanced in six track days. Once I hit Advanced I needed to find the next step to push myself in riding that’s when racing came along. I joined CCS Racing in 2014. My first race weekend was at NJMP, I received a second and a fourth. The next race weekend was Daytona where I acquired two seconds and two fourths. In 2015 I will compete regionally at the Expert level.”
