The Silva brothers swept the Unlimited Grand Prix (Shootout) podium June 4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway during CCS Florida’s event, in an all-time first for the series. Lucas, Bruno, and Fernando Silva finished the race first, second, and third making the first three-brother podium in CCS Florida history. Lucas had led most of the race on his ART Performance Yamaha YZF-R6, not an easy feat with the eldest brother, Bruno in solid second on his ART Performance Kawasaki ZX-10R. Middle brother Fernando worked his way through traffic to take over third place with a few laps to go on his ART Performance Kawasaki ZX-R, and the three brothers finished the race in order without further challenge. This also marks the very first Shootout victory for Lucas, who now is also the expert overall points leader for the region.

After the race, Fernando stated, “Being here, on the podium, with my two brothers is amazing! The day didn’t start easy, I had a crash in a race earlier and did quite some damage to the bike, but my mechanics Orlando Taborda and Harry Anderson did a great job in putting it back together.” He continued, “I want thank God for the opportunity, my mom and Dad for all the support and love. My wife, Bruna, for all her support. Also, Eric Gray from GMD Computrack, and Dunlop tires for the amazing tires! Congratulations to Bruno and Lucas. Lucas was flying today in the wet!”

When asked about being on the podium with his brothers, Bruno exclaimed, “Actually, when I saw Lucas pulling away, I knew it was hard to get him. I was doing 34’s and he just told me he clicked 33’s in the rain. That’s something else! I can not say how proud I am. I am the oldest brother and to see them on the podium with me and is really something else! For me, this is amazing. I’m really happy for the level that they are riding. Lucas in the rain, we knew what he was going to do. So, it was really, really cool.” He continued, “I want first to thank God for all the opportunities to be here, for my parents for all their help, all my family for their support. The mechanics, Orlando, Harry for all their support. those guys worked a lot on those bikes for the weekend. Dunlop tires for these amazing tires that we needed in this situation. We were begging for grip, so I’m really, really happy.”

When asked how it felt to win his first Shootout, Lucas simply stated, “Honestly, it feels much better than I expected! Pretty much everything I know is from them,” he said of his brothers. “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them. That’s for sure.” He commented, “I would be able to see Bruno, but I knew they were both behind me so I knew I had to keep on pushing. And, just try to keep a good pace and do what my bike could do and push myself. These Dunlop tires were working amazing. Everything just came out perfect.” He went on to thank, “My whole family for their support, my girlfriend, and Pucho, he’s my trainer. In these situations, his training helps out a lot. Also, ART Performance, Eric from GMD Computrack, and Arai.”
