KTM RC Cup World Final Announced, Top Five Finishers of MotoAmerica Series to Compete in British Superbike Championship at Silverstone

MURRIETA, Calif. – KTM North America, Inc. announced today that in its inaugural season of competition, the top five finishers of the 2015 U.S. KTM RC Cup will have the opportunity to compete against the best five riders from RC Cup youth series around the world at the penultimate round of the British Superbike Championship at Silverstone on Oct. 2-4, 2015. The U.S. RC Cup is held in conjunction with five rounds of the MotoAmerica Racing Series, beginning at the end of May and running through September.

The World Final is open to the best five KTM RC Cup racers from Finland, Germany, The Netherlands, Mexico, United States and United Kingdom – each battling for the top honor of being the best of the best in RC Cup racing worldwide. The winner will also receive coaching from Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 racers and a new KTM RC 390.

The U.S. KTM RC Cup takes place in conjunction with five rounds of the MotoAmerica Racing Series, which concludes Sept. 11-13 in Millville, New Jersey. Following the MotoAmerica finale, the top five North America finishers will qualify for the World Finale in the UK. Additionally, the winner of the five-round U.S. RC Cup Series will earn $3,500 in KTM Cash, while the second place finisher in the championship standings will take home $2,500 in KTM Cash and third place will earn $1,000 in KTM Cash.

Since its inception, the KTM RC 390 has not only proven itself on the road as a versatile and capable machine, its Supersport track potential has also been exploited by utilizing KTM’s wide range of performance PowerParts and fully adjustable WP Suspension to create an affordable ‘CUP’ specification for racing.

KTM RC Cup race grids composed of identical versions of these machines have been battling it out on race circuits in Germany, The Netherlands, Mexico, United States, United Kingdom and will soon be added by South Korea and Finland. As well as a level playing field with a competitive and adjustable bike, these youth race series provide top-level coaching and rewards packages within existing high profile national championships to nurture future stars and help bring their racing careers to the next level.

The KTM RC Cup World Final will not only allow these ultra-competitive young talents the chance to show who is the best RC Cup racer on a Grand Prix circuit, KTM is also offering some incredible prizes for all 30 participants.

The winner of the World Final will receive a standard KTM RC 390 to keep and a one-on-one coaching by Red Bull KTM Ajo riders Miguel Oliveira and Brad Binder for one day. The second place finisher will be loaned an RC Cup machine to race for the next season along with a one-day coaching from a factory KTM Moto3 rider. The following placed riders will receive generous vouchers from series partners such as Akrapovic, Metzeler and Motorex.

Briefed over the entire weekend by former MotoGP rider and now KTM test rider, Alex Hofman, the World Final participants will share the grid with the existing competitors of the Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup, but will be scored separately from the final round of the British Championship. All the machines need to be CUP specification bikes built by the KTM factory and running to the series rules, with the Metzeler M7RR being the control tire. World Final riders from outside of the UK series will be able to display their existing sponsors on the bikes.

The 2015 U.S. KTM RC Cup Championship concludes Sept. 11-13 in Millville, New Jersey in conjunction with the MotoAmerica Racing Series. For more information, please visit www.ktmrccup.com
