Kansas City, MO Bison Racing rider Walt Sipp announced today that he will once again be riding in select ASRA Superbike and Sportbike races as well as the new AMA Daytona Sportbike series. This year however will see him on the Yamaha R6 along with new sponsor AIP Racing.com out of Van Nuys, CA. AIP Racing.com is well known for their performance work and race engines throughout California as well as the many riders the company has had compete in WSMC and AMA competition. Sipp said,” I’m excited to be on the Yamaha this year and I look forward to the new challenge. Yamaha looked to be the smart move after the dominating display in both AMA and ASRA competition.” With regards to the new sponsor, AIP Racing.com, Walt said,”I’m also really excited to have AIP on board. I know they’ve built some rocket motors for Yamaha riders in the past. I look forward to seeing where a great bike with a great motor can take me. Plus being a Dunlop rider for the past 10 years, I am pretty excited they were chosen as the spec tire for the AMA so no new tires to learn.” Unfortunately after two straight Daytona 200 appearances, Walt will have to miss the 2009 event. Haven ridden under the lights at Daytona during the last two Moto-ST 8 hour races, he was really looking forward to it, but the team has decided to spread out the budget as the Daytona 200 is an expensive endeavor. Walt said, “Yeah, watching from the sidelines will be tough this year. Being the first ever Buell rider to finish the Daytona 200 race in 2007 probably meant more than my first pro win. I’ll be in Daytona racing the ASRA weekend and I’ll still be in there for the AMA weekend but as of right now I’ll only be watching. I’m just kind of hoping something last minute will come up and allow me to give it a go.” Walt would also like to welcome three new sponsors, Woodcraft, Armour Bodies and Driven Sprockets. www.waltsipp.com
