MONTEREY, Calif. (June 4, 2009) Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has announced that for the past several weeks it has been working with major Monterey-area hotels on a special MotoGP promotional rate for fans traveling to the Monterey peninsula for the 2009 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. The promotional rates were started back in February and announced to MotoGP race fans via the track’s bi-weekly email blast, the Corkscrew Newsletter. Hotels and fans have been pleased with the results. ‘We had many hotels working with Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to offer the fans hotel rooms for $199.00 per night during this year’s Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix,” explained Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “We have listened to our fans and our hotel partners have responded with incredible promotional rates.” Some of the hotel partners have included many of the area’s luxury properties such as the Intercontinental the Clement Monterey, the Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort and Spa, Inns of Monterey including the Hotel Pacific, Carmel Mission Inn, Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa, and the Monterey Marriott. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was established in 1957. The world-renowned raceway has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501C(4) corporation. Each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help put on the races. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s world-class 2009 racing schedule includes the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix featuring MotoGP World Championship July 3-5, the 36th Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races August 14-16 and the Monterey Sports Car Championships featuring the American Le Mans Series October 9-11.
