The 6th edition of Femmoto wrapped up with increased attendance and donations towards breast cancer Research plus nine manufacturers participating. Femmoto 2007, held on the first weekend of October, the track day and motorcycle demo event that celebrates female ridership, increased its attendance to 563 over the 2006 total of 330. An increased number of motorcycle manufacturers offering a chance for street and track demos at the event allowed for a variety of demo and training opportunities at the track. The female track demo total is only an indication of the crowd that attended the event this year. With street demos and vendors available for men in attendance, and a Friday Femmoto track-day that allowed male or female registered guests of Femmoto participants to take to the track, more enthusiasts than ever participated in what is quickly becoming the definitive female-centric motorcycle enthusiast event in North America . The Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation was the beneficiary of Femmoto’s charity efforts, with a total of $13,188.00 being raised through Femmoto memberships, donations and auction events held over the weekend. The autographed Valentino Rossi racing helmet was pushed to $1600 with the inclusion of more donations to sweeten the prize. All of our supporters really appreciate the opportunity to talk to these important women. The Kawasaki Dirt Bike Experience was sold out all weekend, and the Discover Today’s Motorcycling sponsored Motorcycle Safety Foundation event trained more riders that will join our sport in the future. I’m so proud of the women who attended this year, the manufacturers for supporting the event and our donations to help find a cure for breast cancer.” Manufacturers participating in Femmoto 2007 included Aprilia, Buell, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Hyosung, Kawasaki , KYMCO, and Suzuki. All reported positive reactions to their machines and event participation. Other key industry sponsors included Hein Gerike, Scorpion Helmets, Parts Unlimited / Icon, Michelin, Geico Powersports Insurance and Red Bull. Femmoto 2008 is set for October 3-5 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. For a report on the 2007 event, and past events, log on to www.femmoto.com.
