Round 7 of the Law Tigers’ Sandia Motorcycle Roadracing Championships hosted by SMRI was held at Sandia Motor Speedway on Sunday September 17th, 2017.

Dave Dikitolia stepped into the void left by Mikey Shreve’s absence to win Speedin’ Motorsports’ Unlimited Grand Prix event, setting the stage for an excellent day of racing at Sandia Speedway! Dikitolia jumped out to an early lead and never looked back besting nearest rival Kevin Gibson by six seconds for the win. Mikey Shreve secured this championship at Round 6 in September.

For the third consecutive event Scott Cloninger was involved in the closest race of the day, this time in the Kings of Speed’s Amateur Club Sport class. Chris Coriz took the holeshot on his KTM 450, but Kawasaki Ninja 250R Cloninger closed up in the turns and despite several attempts to pass fell 0.3 seconds short at the finish to Class Champion Coriz.

Madd-1 Racings’ Novice Super Street saw Charlie Winckless atop the podium for a second consecutive event with Jaime Smith and Cedric Madden taking second and third respectively. Newcomer Eric Torres kept things interesting throughout both race heats making an excellent first showing at Sandia.

SMRI wishes to congratulate all its 2017 class champions: Unlimited Grand Prix: Mikey Shreve, Expert Middleweight Superbike: Dylan Beck, Expert Open Superbike: Dave Dikitolia, Expert Formula 1000: Kevin Gibson, Amateur 250 Supersport: Scott Cloninger, Amateur 500 Supersport: John Kynor Jr., Amateur Club Sport: Chris Coriz, Formula Femme: Edda Tully, Amateur Middleweight Superbike: Randy Bailey, Amateur Open Superbike: Chris Coriz, Amateur Thunderbike: Scott Cloninger, Modern Vintage: Chris Coriz, Novice Middleweight Superbike: Josh Hill, and Novice Open Superbike: Josh Hill.
