Jordi Torres took the Griful MR Team Promo-Harris Moto2 machine to the fastest lap at this week’s Valencia circuit test, which was attended by all the leading CEV Buckler Spanish Moto2 Championship teams. Although Torres only tested on the second day, team mate Dani Rivas spent much of the first day testing a new rear suspension link and various new settings on the Harris machine. On the second day of the test Torres was quickly setting fast lap times, reporting improved turning, grip and tyre wear. Harris Performance Moto2 technical support manager Richard Brendish was clearly delighted with the test: “We had a number of new parts and settings to test, but we quickly found that we had made a considerable step forward. Jordi’s fastest laps were 0.4 of a second faster than anyone else and were all set on the 2010 spec Michelin tyres. Most of the other teams were testing the new 2011 spec Michelins, which are reported to be worth an extra half a second a lap, so we are delighted with the test and quietly confident going into the penultimate round of the series at Valencia on November 14th.” The Griful MR Team riders are currently lying in third and fourth place in the CEV Buckler Spanish Moto2 Championship points table. 2010 CEV Buckler Spanish Moto2 Championship points: 1 – Carmelo Morales, LRT Suter, 80 points, 2 – Kev Coghlan, FTR, 73 points, 3 – Dani Rivas, Promo-Harris, 73 points, 4 – Jordi Torres, Promo-Harris, 71 points, 5 – Ivan Moreno, Moriwaki, 60 points, 6 – Roman Ramos, MIR, 53 points. Next round: Valencia November 14th. Final round: Jerez November 21st.
