Yoshimura Suzuki’s Ben Spies retook the AMA Superstock Championship point lead with a victory on his Dunlop-equipped GSX-R1000 Sunday at California Speedway. Spies took the lead from Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Geoff May on lap five, quickly built an advantage and maintained his cushion to the checkered flag. Jordan Suzuki’s Aaron Yates and Jake Holden demoted May to fourth place shortly after Spies took the lead. Holden passed his teammate for second on lap eight and closed in on leader Spies at one point but had to settle for his second consecutive runner-up finish. Yates finished a lonely third. After a slow start, Graves Yamaha’s Ben Bostrom came back to take fourth place from May, who finished fifth. 2007 AMA Superstock Championship California Speedway Fontana, California April 29, 2007 Provisional Race Results: 1.
