Stefano Mesa Captures Track Record at New Jersey Motorsports Park with Pirelli DIABLO™ SUPERBIKE Slicks
Mesa Brings Pirelli’s 2018 Track Record Total to Eight
ROME, Ga.– Pirelli Tire North America congratulates Stefano Mesa on capturing the brand’s eighth absolute motorcycle track record bounty of 2018, eclipsing the 2017 total track record number of six. Competing aboard a 2018 BMW S1000RR, Mesa’s accomplishment took place on Sunday, September 30 on the Lightning Course at New Jersey Motorsports Park during the Championship Cup Series (CCS).
“Stefano’s efforts were relentless all weekend,” said Oscar Solis, road racing manager, Pirelli. “This season has been incredible to watch as Stefano continues to showcase the capability of his Pirelli Diablo Superbike slicks throughout the nation. Congratulations to his team on leading the way with their fourth track record bounty of the season.”
Stefano Mesa captured his fourth absolute motorcycle track record of the year using Pirelli Diablo Superbike slicks.
The impressive lap record of 1:03.739 was set by Mesa while using Pirelli Diablo Superbike 120/70-17 SC2 front and 200/60-17 SC0 rear tires. In addition to the track record, Mesa successfully captured three race wins in the Expert Grand Prix Unlimited, Expert SuperSport Unlimited and Expert GTO classes.
“I had the mission to go up to New Jersey to compete and hopefully win races,” said Mesa. “I was glad to be able to come out with the wins, but even more glad to have taken the track record. Again, thanks to Oscar and all his guys to make this year so successful.”
Mesa now holds four absolute motorcycle track records this season with previous track records coming at Summit Point Motorsports Park, Palm Beach International Raceway, and Daytona International Speedway. Pirelli continues to offer the biggest bounty in the brand’s history for 2018 and Mesa took home his fourth $750 tire voucher of the year.
