Team Sterilgarda will take to the Valencia circuit for the third round of the WSBK. The squad managed by Marco Borciani set an ambitious goal for the Spanish round – achieving a great result, on a track where in 2007 the team won for the first time ever in World Superbikes by dominating race 1 with Spaniard Ruben Xaus. The 4005 metres long circuit was inaugurated in 1999 and dedicated to the memory of the twice 50cc class world champion, Ricardo Tormo. Shane Byrne will make his debut on this particular track in the WSBK, but has good knowledge of the circuit where he tested several times. It is a track that adapts to the Ducati 1098 features as the succession of slow corners enables good handling of the Borgo Panigale bicilinder. MARCO BORCIANI – team manager: “Our objective at Valencia is to repeat the great performance of race 1 in Qatar: being in the leading pack and fight till the end. Shane knows the track well and will start on equal terms with the other riders during practice , where we have to capture a good starting position in the first rows. Valencia is a track where is very hard to overtake and in order to score a great result, we’ll have to get in the leading pack from lap 1”.
