‘Super Dave’ Rosno Retires From Instructing Riders

© 2008, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc. From a press release issued By Visionsports Riding Schools.

In 1993, Dave Rosno began teaching schools for Championship Cup Series and later started an independent program to offer instruction to experienced track day riders and experienced road racers. As of August of 2008, “Super” Dave, as he’s been known in paddocks for over twenty years, has retired from formal instruction. “For fifteen years, starting at Heartland Park Topeka with Roger Edmonson, some of you know him only from DMG fame, with Championship Cup Series in 1993, then moving to other tracks: Blackhawk Farms Raceway, Brainerd International Raceway, Mid America Motorplex, Road America, Summit Point, Grattan Raceway, and even working as a coach with an AMA team at Laguna, Infineon Raceway, VIR and some other tracks around the country. “The cost of doing schools has exceeded the money that I’ve been able to make for some time. Certainly, I’ve tried to develop partnerships, but sometimes they just don’t work out the way you’re told they will. “Riders are what kept me going, and I will certainly miss everyone that I’ve worked with over these years. It’s all been about personal victories, whether it was a rider getting a knee down, someone dropping a second because of a suggestion, to even having a student stand at the top of a podium for an AMA race win. “I’ve had a unique staff of instructors over the years. I can’t begin to say how much I enjoyed working with them all. From Jimmy Floyd and Shane Clark in the early years through Jimmy Milroy, Jr., Meghan Stiles, Scotty Ryan, and John Deuser most recently. In between, people like Kevin Hanson, Patrick Thornton, Mike Riebe, Steve Kessenich, Monte Nichols, Mark Stiles, the Kindelin’s, and Andy Adler and placed their marks too. “Vanson Leathers has always been there for us since the beginning, literally day one. As a personal tester of the product, I know it works. “With my two boys, Alex and John, growing up, I’d like to spend some more time closer to home possibly getting them involved in flat track. This move has allowed me to make the decision to get and race a Buell motorcycle too. It’s something that I’ve been trying to do for about thirteen years, but other things always got in the way. “I’ve tapped Scott Ryan as my replacement to take over the program and ideology that I developed over these years. I hope that there will be some movement to support him at the tracks that we’ve done schools at should he decide to continue Visionsports Riding Schools. He knows the program, and I’m confident in his abilities. “In the end, I’m a motorcycle racer. That’s what I love. I’ll see you in turn one.” Visionsports, Inc. operates Visionsports Riding Schools, Team Visionsports, and Super Dave’s Race Against Childhood Cancer using owner Dave Rosno’s knowledge and skills of active motorcycle competition since 1987.
