Police say that Todd Kohlhepp, a 45-year-old registered sex offender arrested last week for kidnapping a woman and killing her boyfriend in South Carolina, has admitted killing four people at a motorcycle dealership in the state 13 years ago today.
Kohlhepp was convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl when he was 15, and had a history of violent behavior dating back to grade school. He has been charged with kidnapping Kala Brown and chaining her up in a shipping container after killing her boyfriend Charles Carver in August of this year.
Officers found Brown after executing a search warrant on property owned by Kohlhepp, who was arrested on site.
Kohlhepp told investigators that he killed four people at Superbike Motorsports Suzuki in 2003 in what became known as “The Superbike Murders.” The victims included dealership owner (and racer) Scott Ponder and his mother (and shop book keeper) Beverly Guy as well as service manager Brian Lucas and mechanic Chris Sherbert.
Kohlhepp, who may have been an irate Superbike Motorsports customer, worked as a real estate agent in the intervening years.
