Albacete 6hr Night-time Endurance Suzuki Endurance Racing Team lead the grid in front of Kawasaki QERT and Kawasaki Motor France Suzuki Endurance Racing Team finished the second qualifying round of QMMF Endurance FIM World Championship at Albacete in first place on the grid. Vincent Philippe once again recorded the best time this morning in 1’31.268 and with the support of quick lap-times recorded by his team-mates, Matthieu Lagrive and Julian Da Costa, secured Suzuki’s advantage on the grid line-up at the Albacete 6hr Night-time Endurance. The line-up at the top of the grid is extremely close, making Suzuki’s pole-position more of a psychological boost than a physical advantage. Just behind Suzuki sits the Kawasaki of Qatar Endurance Racing Team ridden by Jose Luis Cardoso and Ivan Silva who start just in front of another Kawasaki. With victory in its sights Team Kawasaki Motor France is represented by Steve Plater, Julian Mazuecos and Gwen Giabbani. On the track, tough competition between Suzuki and Kawasaki is on the cards, especially as this Albacete race is seen by the two teams as a real road-race. The three permanent teams will need to keep an eye on the performance of the Team FCC TSR’s Japanese Honda. The CBR1000RR ridden by Takeshi Tsujimura and Yoshiyuki Sugai sits at fourth on the grid and has ambitions for a podium place. Two permanent teams sit close behind on the grid; Yamaha Phase One (Warwick Nowland, Glenn Richards, Didier Van Keymeulen) and Yamaha Austria Racing (Igor Jerman, Sébastien Scarnato, Damian Cudlin) who will start ahead of Albacete 6hr Night-time’s home-team, Spanish team Yamaha Folch Endurance. Kawasaki Bolliger Switzerland (David Morillon, Patric Muff, Horst Saiger) take eighth position in front of Yamaha Endurance 38 (Erwan Nigon, Julien Millet, Joao Contente). Tenth place is taken by the only European machine competing in this Spanish leg; The Ducati RPM Expert Flumotion had a difficult morning, with two riders falling during qualifying. Dani Ribalta walked away unscathed; however Pascal Pegaz, the second pilot is not confirmed to be starting the race. The Albacete 6hr Night-time Endurance starts at 6.00pm on today.
