Danville, VA – In conjunction with the Suzuki White Lightning AMA Pro SuperBike Nationals presented by Foremost Insurance, VIRginia International Raceway will host a special charity ride to benefit wounded veterans and their families. As part of this fund-raiser, track day riders will have the opportunity to purchase specially discounted general admission tickets and take part in track rides on the historic VIR road course to benefit the Fisher House Foundation and Home for Our Troops non-profit charities. Scheduled to take place on Friday, August 13th, 2010, this special fundraising event will also be co-hosted by VIR, Patriot Racing and the Cornerspeed racing school. “Without the sacrifices of those who defend our Country in the Armed Forces, we would not live in a land of freedom and opportunity, ” said Josh Lief, General Manager of VIR. “On behalf of the entire VIR community, we are very pleased to be a part of this event and raise money and awareness for such a worthy cause.” During this event, riders of all skill levels will have the opportunity to test themselves on the natural terrain South Course at VIR, which features the well known Oak Tree Turn, Fishhook, Spiral and Uphill Esses. Street riders, sport enthusiasts and new racers will also be able to work with certified instructors at the Cornerspeed racing school and interact with members of the CCS championship Patriot race team. For registration information, contact Cornerspeed at (704) 332-3147 or visit www.Cornerspeed.net. Cornerspeed will also give entrants a discount code good for a deep discount off a 3-day pass. “I am thrilled to be working with VIR and Cornerspeed on this project,” said Steve Levow, president of Patriot Racing. “To have the support of these prominent organizations raises the exposure of our program and our efforts to have a meaningful impact in the lives of our wounded veterans and their families.” “When Steve contacted me about working to raise money for our wounded vets, he didn’t have to ask,” said Aaron Stevenson, CEO & Chief Instructor for Cornerspeed. “I was already saying, ‘yes’ even while he was still talking. The entire staff of Cornerspeed and I are proud to a part of such worthy charities to help those who have given so much for all of us.” About Fisher House Foundation The Fisher House™ program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America’s military in their time of need. Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House™ Foundation donates “comfort homes,” built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. Annually, the Fisher House™ program serves more than 10,000 families with nearly three million days of lodging having been made available to family members since the program originated in 1990. For further information, visit Fisher House. About Homes for Our Troops Homes for Our Troops is a national non-profit, non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2004. Since September 11, 2001 they have assisted severely injured service men, women and their immediate families by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor and to coordinate the process of building a home that provides maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently. Homes for Our Troops has been named a Top Rated Charity by the American Institute of Philanthropy. For further information, visit Home For Our Troops. About Patriot Racing While every race team carries a desire to win to the race track, Maryland based Patriot Racing goes road racing with another purpose: to serve as an advocate for the long term needs of wounded veterans and their families. Both Steve Levow and John Porter, the co-founders of Patriot Racing, are veterans of military service and champion motorcycle road racers. Levow is this year’s defending CCS Mid-Atlantic GTO Regional Champion. For further information, visit Patriot Racing.
