After failing to come to terms with Kawasaki, the manufacturer he won eight Championships with over the past four years, Canadian star Jordan Szoke has now done a deal with Honda Canada that will see him compete in the 2010 Parts Canada Superbike and Yoshimura 600cc Sport Bike Championships on CBRs. “After things fell through with Kawi, I figured I better explore my options. I thought, ‘Maybe, I should call Honda?'” Szoke told Roadracingworld.com Thursday. “I think they were shocked when I called, because not many people really believed that I wasn’t with Kawasaki anymore and that I was available.” With Honda’s support, Szoke will race a CBR1000RR in Superbike and a CBR600RR in Sport Bike for his own team, Waznie Racing Honda. Szoke has hired Scott Miller’s Fast Company to build and maintain his racebikes, while Szoke and his new wife Amy will handle the administrative duties for the team. “If I win all the races and both Championships this year I will break even [financially]”, said Szoke, who plans to also contest selected rounds of the AMA Pro Road Racing series. “I had to make the investment in myself, and I’m hoping things will get better next year.” Szoke’s wife will also race a Honda CBR600RR at the Canadian Nationals.
