Motorcycling Australia makes history with new President
Motorcycling Australia (MA) is pleased to announce its new President and Chair, Tania Lawrence.
Tania is the first Western Australian elected to the role of President in the history of Motorcycling Australia and the first woman to the role.
Tania brings a wealth of government and business experience to the Federation, currently managing global business integration at Woodside Energy Ltd.
A new and invigorated Motorcycling Australia Board consisting of four elected professionals, bringing strategy, legal, change management and media expertise from the selection committee’s recommendations have assumed their roles and are committed to the long term sustainability and growth of motorcycle racing in Australia.
The Board looks forward to harnessing the enthusiasm and dedication of members across all motorcycle disciplines as we prepare to set a clear direction to accelerate the participation and opportunities for all riders and volunteers in viable, safe events and competitions.
Members met in Melbourne for the first time for a two day introduction to the Federation on the 9th & 10th of August. Meetings were held with senior managers at MA to get a clear understanding of the current status of the Federation, and for the Board to create a concise plan to move forward.
With recommendations from the MA Council to consider on the future of the sport through the “Whole Of Sport Review”, the new Board are working through all matters of the Federation including managerial, structural and cultural considerations to make the appropriate decisions in a swift and transparent manner. Nominees for the three remaining independent Board positions are being considered, and the successful applicants will be announced soon.
The Motorcycling Australia Board would like to thank the staff at MA, the State Controlling Bodies and in particular the MA Council for all its hard work in putting together its recommendations and giving its support to the new Directors.
