The new 2010 Althea Racing Team was officially presented on January 16th at Timo’s Club in Fasano (Brindisi Italy). All the components of the team were present in Fasano, starting from the team’s General Manager, Genesio Bevilacqua together with the riders of the Superbike World Championship Carlos Checa and Shane Byrne plus Flavio Gentile the rider of the Superbike Italian Championship. The team is made up of two personal staffs, one for each world Superbike rider. Checa’s staff: Giovanni Crupi – Track engineer Adriano Coppola – Electronics engineer Michele Ducoli Chief mechanic Moreno Coppola Alberto Angeli Sandro Ricci – Mechanics Byrne’s staff : Alberto Dellavalle – Track engineer Christian Moretti – Eectronics engineer Fabrizio Donghini Chief mechanic Giuseppe Biagioli Luca Lenci Domenico Grieco Mechanics And this is the team who will work with Flavio Gentile in the Italian Superbike championship : Roberto Schena Team Director Michele Ducoli Chief mechanic Adriano Coppola Electronics engineer Sandro Ricci Giuseppe Biagioli – Massimo Speranza Mechanics Complete the team : Maya Cohen Image and communication Alessandro Valli Hospitality coordinator Elena Civilotti – Administration Carlo Baldi Press Officer (world Superbike championship) Roberto Schena Press Officer (Italian Superbike championship) completes the 2010 Althea team. During the presentation the team showed the new Ducati 1198 and the team’s official livery, designed by Maya Cohen. Genesio Bevilacqua : “We worked very hard to prepare our team for the next racing season and now I can say that we are ready for the 2010 Superbike world championship. Everything is set to compete in world and Italian Superbike championships. Once again we must thank Althea and all our sponsors who allowed our team to be so competitive. Now we are prepared to go to Portimao for the first test of the year. On the Portuguese circuit we’ll be able to compare our team with all our competitors”. Carlos Checa :”In few days we’ll leave for Portimao and I will be able to start to work with my new technicians in order to start the Superbike world championship in the best possible way. My team worked very hard to prepare the bikes and I’ll do my best starting from the first test session in Portimao because I want to start this 2010 season in the right way” Shane Byrne :”I’m really very happy to be part of this team. Today I saw my new Ducati bike for the first time and I’m eager to ride it in Portimao. Now I know all the components of the team and I’m sure it will be exciting work in such a professional squad, especially with Carlos Checa alongside. He’s got a lot of experience and I’m sure he’ll be a great teammate. This year I want to firmly stay in the first positions in every race”. Flavio Gentile: “I’m starting a new racing season with a very competitive team and bike. Last year it was my first time in the Italian Superbike Championship and I was able to gain a lot of experience that will be very important for me this year. I will do my best to win the Italian championship. I would like to thank Althea and all my sponsors and I’ll try to reach the best possible results for them and for my supporters. The entire team will fly to Portimao for three days of testing (22nd, 23rd and 24th of January) where Althea Racing will be able to meet all the other competitors in the 2010 Superbike world title. From Portugal Genesio Bevilacqua and his staff will go to Valencia for two more days of testing on the Spanish track (27th and 28th of January). The first round of the Superbike World Championships will take place over the weekend of February 26/27/28 on the Phillip Island circuit in Australia.
