The race transporter of Team Amantini’s Fernando Amantini was broken into Wednesday night in Salt Lake City, and riding gear, equipment and tools belonging to the team were stolen. Team Amantini’s transporter, an unmarked Ford Econoline van, was parked in the parking lot of the Super 8 Motel near the Salt Lake City International Airport Wednesday night July 31 when a thief or thieves broke out a side window to gain access to the interior. Once inside, the thief/thieves stole several valuable objects. Items that were stolen include: a custom yellow and white AXO one-piece leather racing suit (similar to the one pictured) sporting Amantini’s name, sponsor logos and AMA Pro Racing patches; a brand new set of black, size 41/7.5 Sidi road race boots; a complete Öhlins suspension tool set; several Driven Racing front and rear sprockets; and a Milwaukee 90-degree power drill. Amantini will be able to race this coming weekend at Miller Motorsports Park, he said, because his two Yamaha YZF-R6 AMA Pro Daytona SportBikes were not stolen and the AMA Pro paddock is helping out his team with loaner tools and spare parts. Team Amantini is asking anyone with information about this break-in or the items that were stolen please contact the Sale Lake City Police Department or Roadracingworld.com via the Contact page on this website.
