Team EMGO USA and Caylor head in new direction”¦ MARIETTA, Ga – After five successful seasons in AMA competition, Chris “Opie” Caylor and Emil Gomez, of EMGO International, have agreed to refocus their efforts. In doing so, Opie will return to the WERA National Challenge Series and will compete as Team EMGO USA in the 600, 750 and 1000cc Superstock classes. Team EMGO USA rider Opie Caylor added; ” I’m particularly excited about working with Grant Matsushima again. Grant will be in charge of my engine program as well as supplying Team EMGO USA with his own brand of exhaust systems, EKG. Grant and I enjoyed a certain amount of success in the past and I expect great things once again!” A newcomer to the Team EMGO USA program is Komodo Leathers and Gloves. Opie used Komodo Leathers and Gloves in 2006 and felt so strongly about Komodo’s products that he wouldn’t settle for anything less in 2007. ” First off I just gotta say wow! I had two crashes last year in the same Komodo FX suit. Each crash took place at over 100 miles per hour yet not even a single seam opened up and I didn’t have a single bruise from either crash!” Caylor went on to say, “On top of the product being top notch, Lee and Wayne and everybody at Komodo work so hard and are such good people. I just did not want to work with anybody else!” In addition to some new sponsors, Caylor has also added a new Lead Mechanic. Shane Giguere has worked as a mechanic at Jim Brannon’s Freewheeling Suzuki, in Douglasville, Georgia, for the past 6 years. In 2006, Shane also worked as a Dunlop Tire Fitter during AMA National Weekends. About working for Team EMGO USA, Shane had this to say: “I’m very excited to be a part of Team EMGO USA in 2007! Working for a professional race team has been a goal of mine since I can remember. I believe I will learn a lot and plan to do my part in helping Opie achieve the best results possible.” “I’m really looking forward to it”, said Caylor. “The WERA National Challenge Series is no joke! There are several good riders in the series. I’m going into this with the goal of winning a championship and that’s never easy regardless of what series you’re competing in. To win a championship, you have to have all the right pieces to the puzzle. That starts with having the right people and the right products supporting the effort. I’ve been very fortunate in that I have been able to put those people in my corner for 2007. I believe that I have the best of the best sponsoring me starting right at the very top with Emil Gomez and EMGO International! And I will do everything I can to bring a championship home to each one of my sponsors!” The WERA National Challenge Series gets under way at Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah, Georgia on March 16 18.
