Team Empty Pockets Wins Fasttrax Three-Hour Endurance Race At Nelson Ledges

NELSONS LEDGES, Ohio The 2009 Fasttrax racing series opened Saturday with three-hour endurance races followed by sprint races on Sunday.

Team Empty Pockets got the first checkered flag of the weekend, with a first overall finish and first in class in the three-hour endurance, a heavily contested race in all four divisions.

Rush Hour Racing Two’s Suzuki GSX-R750 was leading overall after 93 laps when rider Ricky Carlisle collided with the sliding Triumph Daytona 675 of Team Localriders.com when rider Corey Bannister low sided in Turn 13. Both riders were home recuperating at end of the weekend.

On Sunday club-racing legend Bill Bloom, 74, of Wellsboro, PA dropped the first green flag of the season’s sprint series inaugurating the Bill Bloom Heavyweight Challenge followed by the Bob Stanley Lightweight Challenge. Both races offer a cash pool based on the size of the grid.

Robert Rowles of Linden, OH ran the fastest lap of the day with a 1:10.286 running a Yamaha YZF-R6 in the Supersport Middleweight race.
