Team KTM HMC Signs Fillmore For 2008 AMA Supermoto Championship, Plans To Extend Road Racing Efforts

From a press release issued by Team KTM HMC: Wisconsin – Team KTM HMC is pleased to announce the signing of the talented Supermoto veteran and rising star, Chris Fillmore, for the 2008 AMA Supermoto Championship. Fillmore joins the team having placed a solid 4th in the 2007 AMA Supermoto Championship. His goal for 2008 is to take all the marbles and win in the premier 450cc class as well as taking a podium in the X-Games. “I’m really excited to work with the guys at Team KTM HMC. Mitch Hansen started me out in my Supermoto career in 2003 and it’s like coming home to work with him and the team. Troy (Herfoss) and I will be training together for the start of the season and I think we will be the pair to beat in the Supermoto Premier Championship,” Chris Fillmore. Fillmore began his racing career in 2003 and won his very first Supermoto race in South Boston, VA aboard the Factory Red Bull HMC KTM Team running a KTM Unlimited racebike. “We are pleased to bring the racing talents of Chris Fillmore back under the Team KTM HMC canopy for the 2008 season. Over the years we have had the good fortune to work with world-class talent from Scott Russell to Doug Chandler, and we feel Chris has the capacity to place an indelible stamp on the American Supermoto series,” Mitch Hansen, Team Owner. Roadracing in 2008 KTM is extending its road racing efforts in 2008 with the KTM 990 Super Duke R. This bike will be raced at select regional and national road race series events. Select series include (but are not limited to): CCS, WERA, AFM, Utah Sportbike Association, Moto-ST and the Canadian Thunder Series. Many of the tracks used in the above series are also used by the AMA Superbike Series. KTM riders Troy Herfoss and Chris Fillmore will race the KTM 990 Super Duke R on the top American tracks against high-level competition to help develop their individual road racing skills as well as develop the bike for future events. KTM Motorcycles KTM has a deeply rooted motor sport tradition. More than 100 World Championship titles are proof of the company’s great technical expertise. “Ready to Race” is the company’s philosophy. The insights gained from their motor sport experience are passed directly into series production and so become available to their customers as well.
