May Returns To Team M4 EMGO Suzuki Team Hammer, Inc., racing as M4 EMGO Suzuki in the AMA Superbike Series, has re-signed Geoff May for the 2006 season. May, 25, from Gainesville, Georgia, raced in AMA Superstock and AMA Supersport in 2005 for Team M4 EMGO Suzuki. May was eighth in Superstock points, standing on the podium twice, finishing second at Road America (where he led the race) and then finishing third at the Road Atlanta season finale. In Supersport, May turned in a string of consistent finishes to take fifth place in points for the year. “It’s a great opportunity for myself and the team to showcase what we can do again next year,” May said. “This season was a learning year for me and my first on a factory-supported team, so we were learning from scratch in some aspects. We had some good results but, of course, we would have liked to done a little better at times. Still, I feel like we learned a lot and at the end of the year the Pirelli tire development was really coming along. I’m looking forward to racing with the team again next year and the mechanics are great. Suzuki’s new GSX-R600 looks like a really good bike and we are anxious to see what it can do. We feel that we’ve made progress this year and we are excited about 2006.” “We’re happy to see Geoff back for next year,” said Crew Chief Keith Perry. “We’re looking forward to having him back again and continuing the work we started. Geoff had ridden on the Pirelli tires before he joined us, but with the development progressing like it did, they were new to him to go along with new bikes, new suspension, and a new team. Things started to click as the season progressed and we’re confident Geoff can put together a strong, consistent run in the championship next year. I think we’ve just seen a little taste of what Geoff can do. We are looking forward to some testing with Geoff and starting the season out strong at Daytona.” The team plans for May to race in AMA Supersport and Superstock again next year, and will start testing at Daytona International Speedway in three weeks. Team Hammer Inc. has corporate headquarters in Lake Elsinore, California and races out of a shop in Athens, Alabama. The 2006 racing season will mark the team’s 26th consecutive year of professional motorcycle competition.
