Team M4 EMGO Suzuki development rider Michael Beck underwent successful surgery to repair his injured left arm at the hands of orthopedic surgeon Dr. Daniel Davis December 12 at Simi Valley Hospital, in Simi Valley, California.

“The surgeon said once he opened it up [the damage] wasn’t as bad as the original X-rays showed,” Beck told Roadracingworld.com Wednesday, adding that it was discovered that only one of his left forearm bones was fractured. “There wasn’t as much soft tissue damage as he thought there would be from the way it was dislocated. They were going to put an external fixator on it, but the surgeon said I didn’t need that. So I just had a plate and a couple of screws put on the fractured ulna.

“He said it’s looking like only a couple of weeks before I can get into some physical therapy, which I was pretty stoked about.”

Beck said his doctor told him he could be back on a motorcycle in as little as a month.

Originally, Beck sought treatment from Dr. Arthur Ting, but Beck’s insurance plan would not allow it. Beck then sought treatment from Dr. Davis, who repaired a broken collarbone previously. Dr. Ting also recommended Dr. Davis.

Beck, who finished ninth in the 2006 AMA Supersport Championship as a privateer, injured his arm when he crashed during a Pirelli tire test December 7 at Daytona International Speedway.
