AMA Pro Road Racing Recognizes Team Pro-Motion’s GP Moto Elite Racing as eligible for qualification for an AMA Pro Racing competition license. Team Pro-Motion Sportbike Club is proud to announce that its GP Moto Cup race series has been recognized by AMA Pro Racing for eligibility towards a professional license. Team Pro-Motion’s GP Moto Cup began in 2004 featuring small displacement, 80cc bikes, evolved and expanded to feature production motorcycles in 2006 and settled on the present 600cc Middleweight & 1000cc format in 2008. With incredible racing action over the years the GP Moto Cup program developed features that were popular with racers. GP Moto Cup “Dash for Cash” races featured cash payouts and other race and Championship wins were rewarded with track time and tire credits. For 2012, Team Pro-Motion’s GP Moto Cup has grown again and now features GP Moto Cup classes for Amateurs and the GP Moto Elite classes for Expert-level riders. Team Pro-Motion is implementing a new, innovative timing system with inexpensive, RFID tags that replace the bulky and expensive transponders that have been used traditionally. The RFID system will be supplemented by human scorers. With this latest expansion AMA Pro Racing has approved TPM’s GP Moto Elite’s points structure for eligibility towards an AMA Pro Racing Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport license. “Team Pro-Motion’s GP Moto Cup is recognized by AMA Pro Racing, particularly the top class, GP Moto Elite,” says Dave McGrath, AMA Pro Racing’s Director of Competition. “We like the mechanism that TPM has, especially the qualification system with reference to lap times as a performance index. (It works well) in comparison to the AMA Pro SuperSport guys; we appreciate that. Because Team Pro-Motion is so diligent, we recognize that riders who come through the GP Moto Elite program would be eligible to come to AMA Pro Racing’s Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport class. “This is a fulfillment of a life-long dream,” states Glen Goldman, Team Pro-Motion’s President. “With this recognition we are able to train street riders and lead them through our track day ART® program into club racing and all the way to the big leagues of AMA Pro Racing and beyond. Team Pro-Motion has been a launching point for many racers’ careers, and now we are able to even further increase our commitment to rider development!” For 2012, Team Pro-Motion’s Racing series kicks off with its opening round on April 9th, at New Jersey Motorsports Park’s [NJMP] Thunderbolt course. The nine-round series will also travel to Summit Point Raceway, Virginia International Raceway and Pittsburgh International Race Complex [BeaveRun Motorsports Complex], with the final, championship round concluding on October 15th, at NJMP Thunderbolt.
