Team Roberts will field British Superbike racer Jonathan Rea in the British Grand Prix, June 22-24 at Donington Park. Team Roberts normally only runs with Kenny Lee Roberts, but it entered Kurtis Roberts (younger brother of Kenny Lee Roberts and son of Team Principal Kenny Leroy Roberts) at the GPs at Mugello and Catalunya to get more rider feedback in hopes of advancing the performance of their Honda-powered, Michelin-shod KR212V. Rea is a young (20), up-and-comer in the British Superbike Championship who races a factory Honda CBR1000RR on Michelins. He is currently third in the Championship point standings with eight of 13 rounds left to run. Team Manager Chuck Aksland told European media outlets that running Rea would give the young Brit exposure in the MotoGP paddock as well as give their sponsor, www.motopoint.co.uk, more exposure. Aksland also said his team hoped to run a second rider at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca July 20-22, but he did not name a rider.
