Team SCRaceCenter.com KTM Racing Takes Overall Endurance Win At Hallett Motor Racing Circuit with CMRA
Round six of the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association’s endurance season came to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Hallett, Oklahoma this past Saturday, July 21, 2012. Sunny weather, temperatures over 100 degrees and a light breeze made for greasy track conditions at the 10-turn, 1.8 mile course for the morning Mini Sprints and the afternoon’s endurance races.
The 2-hour Mini Endurance had a combined grid of 18 teams comprised of Formula 4, 5, 6 and 7 Endurance classes. After two hours of racing, the Davis Rod and Cycle team, from Austin, Texas, squeaked out a 1.435 second win over the Howlie Boyz to win both the Formula 4 class and the Overall Mini Endurance. The Howlie Boyz team of Dean Thimjon and Jason Swan riding a Kawasaki EX250, made their way down from Liberty, Missouri to give the Davis Rod and Cycle team of Jesse Davis, Ryan Andrews and Brandon Altmeyer (also on a Kaw EX250) a run for their money. Third place in class and overall went to Supafly Racing, which finished three laps behind the first and second place teams.
The 5-hour Big Bike Endurance race had a combined grid of 23 teams broken into the A Superbike, C Superbike, Formula 2, and Modern Classic Endurance classes. The action was very close, with four teams going at it for the top spot from the drop of the green flag: Team SCRaceCenter.com KTM Racing, NORDCO Racing, the Village Idiots, and Desert Rats Racing duking it out until well after the 1 Hour mark. The Team SCRaceCenter.com KTM Racing team of Ty Howard, Ryan Andrews, Bryan West, Shea Fouchek, and Jeremy Louder pulled into the lead and left the Village Idiots team of John Orchard, Chris Headley, and Blake Cochran on a Yamaha YZF-R6 battling with the NORDCO Racing team of Todd Larson, Brandon Young, and Michael Rochester on a Yamaha YZF-R1 for second. Team SCRaceCenter.com KTM Racing held onto the lead, landing wins in both the Overall and A Superbike Endurance. The NORDCO Racing team shook off the Village Idiots to take second in both the Overall and A Superbike Endurance. The Village Idiots held on to take third Overall and first in C Superbike Endurance.
Ty Howard of Team SCRaceCenter.com KTM Racing had this to say, “We always struggle at Hallett, a lot, and to get through the 5 hour race with no episodes and good lap times every lap was a huge accomplishment for the team. To come out here, get a victory and get the points lead is really nice. My team worked really hard this weekend; the crew was really good, the riders put forth tremendous effort, the bike ran great, and the Bridgestone tires were the best. We did the whole race with the same front and just one rear tire change. I’m more than pleased with the results. I’d like to thank P1 Suspension, DynoJet, Bridgestone, VP, Pilot, Motul, 212Decals.com, KTM North America, and my pit crew: Brandon, Citrus, John, and Craig Montgomery.”
