Ten Kate Honda Racing has announced its rider line-up for the forthcoming European Superstock and Junior Superstock championships, which kick off at Valencia next weekend (3-5 April). Maxime Berger, 20, from Dijon in France, will return to the team on the Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade, which he took to three wins and second place overall in last year’s Superstock 1000 championship. A newcomer to the squad is Gino Rea from Ewell, near London. The 19-year-old will be riding Honda’s all-new CBR600RR in the Junior Superstock series, having finished third last season with one win and five podium finishes. Ferry Schoenmakers, manager of the Ten Kate Honda Racing team, said: “The Ten Kate team now has a bike running in every class for 2009, which is good for both Gerrit ten Kate and for Honda. “Gino Rea is a good solution for us,” he continued. “He’s a rough diamond but I think that with a bit of guidance from this incredible Ten Kate team, he can win more races and the championship. We certainly hope to give Honda a win with its new CBR600RR in 2009.” Schoenmakers concluded: “Maxime is happy and relaxed and will be staying with us this season. He showed his potential with three wins last year and we’ll certainly be hoping to take the Superstock 1000 title with him in 2009.” Gino Rea added: “Ten Kate is the team that I and many other racers look up to and want to be part of. I have the experience of running at the front of races now, so I want to give Ten Kate, Honda and myself a STK600 title this year!”
